The King of Drunchies: Taco Bells’ Mexican Pizza Combo

We have all been there; drinking with our buddies for hours and then eating the fattiest, and sometimes strangest, food we could get our hands on. Have you ever wondered what other drinkers prefer for a snack? A new survey by Online-casinos.com aims to answer this question.

Read this article to find out which are the most beloved drunk dishes and fast-food chains for each Canadian province and American state.

Most Famous Drunk Foods

This section will list the most popular drunchies foods in the US and Canada based on state and province, starting from top to bottom:

  • Burgers – Burgers won the prize of most popular drunk food by a landslide, which comes as no surprise. However, it failed to win even one Canadian province. Here are all the sixteen states that placed it first (east to west): North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Washington, and Oregon.
  • Chicken wings – Usually, people start eating this one while they’re still drinking (who would say no to Buffalo wings and beer) but apparently, they eat it after as well. Chicken wings take second place overall. This food got the first spot in eight US states and one Canadian province, here they are: Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, South Dakota, Alaska, Hawaii and the Northwest Territories.
  • Pizza – Pizza takes third place, according to the surveyed, winning in three US states and one Canadian province, namely Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Alberta.
  • Grilled Cheese – We always thought that grilled cheese was more of comfort food when you’re having a lazy night at home, but we apparently guessed wrong. Grilled cheese was found to be the most popular drunk dish in three states and one special district: New Hampshire, Washington DC, Indiana, and Idaho.
  • Quesadillas – Quesadillas are one of the best treatments for hangover, so we’re really surprised that they came fifth. They are the favorite drunk food for two US states and one Canadian province: Kentucky (we’re honestly bewildered that they didn’t choose fried chicken), Mississippi, and Manitoba.
  • Kebab – Coming in fifth place as well, kebab won the hearts of two states and one Canadian province. The two US states, New York and California, come as big surprises but the drunk heart wants what it wants. Ontario also crowned it as the best drunk food.
  • Nachos – Another food to share the fifth place with is nachos. Various Mexican meals seem to be the preferred food for drunks on the continent (although they’re blown out by burgers). Nachos was chosen by three states: Missouri, Arkansas, and Nebraska.
  • Burritos – Burritos come right after nachos for the sixth place, having been chosen by Colorado and New Mexico to no-one’s surprise.
  • Fries – Landing in sixth place, fries were chosen by Vermont and New Brunswick. Seems like the people from this state and this province are content in having just fries, which is respectable, especially for a drunk person.
  • Mozzarella sticks – The trend apparently continues of picking appetizers. Mozzarella sticks share the sixth place with Nova Scotia and Delaware picking them.
  • Onion rings – Yep, another appetizer in sixth place. Onion rings are beloved by Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as by Iowa.
  • Fish and Chips – Another sixth-place contender, fish and chips is the most popular dish for drunchies in Prince Edward Island and…. *checks notes*…Arizona? We find the latter hard to believe but we’ll respect the surveyed opinion.
  • Full English breakfast – In our humble opinion, this is the best hangover food after Mexican food, but it only managed to win in one state and one province, namely Nevada and British Columbia (get it?).
  • Chinese food – Yet another dish sharing the sixth spot is Chinese food. Drunk people from New Jersey and Yukan indulge in the rich taste of Chinese dishes after a long night.
  • Pierogi – Pierogi are delicious but we didn’t see them as drunk food until now. Pennsylvania and Saskatchewan beg to differ!
  • Shawarma – Shawarma is perhaps the most popular drunk food in Europe but it was honored only by Nunavut.
  • Fried chicken – Same goes for fried chicken, which comes in seventh place. Louisiana remembers you buddy!
  • Poutine – The last dish on the list, which we expected to include because Canada, is poutine. Naturally, Quebec chose it.

Fast Food Chains

Who will win the battle of the food chains in the US and Canada? For Canada, it’s good old McDonalds, while the food chain comes at second place in the US.

For the US that is Taco Bell. Remember how we listed pizza as the top dish for four regions? What if we tell you that this pizza was in fact the Mexican pizza from Taco Bell? Many surveyed Americans and Canadian admitted it was their guilty pleasure (57% to be exact). They also admitted that it is the dish they regret most eating, but they just can’t get enough.

The rest on the list for Canada (from top to bottom) are A&W, Domino’s (another very guilty pleasure), Wendy’s and Pizza Hut. Surprisingly, Wendy’s isn’t even on the American list, being substituted for Jack in the Box. Americans also chose Waffle House (which will never fall, even during a nuclear winter) and Domino’s.
